There are few drinks that can beat a tequila margarita – so enjoy my spin on a classic with the additions of chili and lime, and use the best Blanco tequila you can get your hands on. Also try switching it up with Mezcal for a refreshing twist! View the video here.

  • 1 Tbsp Tajin, or chilli salt
  • 60ml Blanco tequila (also called plato or silver tequila)
  • 15ml Cointreau (you may also use other orange liqueurs such as triple sec or Grand Marnier)
  • 1 lime (30ml lime juice and wedge for preparing the glass)
  • 15ml sugar syrup
  • 1/2 chilli

  1. Use a wedge of lime along the rim of the glass, rub it in tajin or chilli salt and set aside
  2. Add tequila, half the chilli, orange liqueur, lime juice, and sugar syrup to a container filled with ice, and shake well until well chilled
  3. Strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice, add a few slices of chill for garnish
