Use the right potatoes! Choose a variety intended for boiling or mashing, such as Russets, Desiree or Maris Piper.

Fresh, creamy butter is essential to the perfect mash. Don’t be shy with the butter when making mashed potatoes – the fattiness of the butter will give it that smooth mouthfeel you’re after.

Milk or cream

Adding milk or cream adds moisture and helps to smooth the texture of the mash.

Salt and pepper

Season, season, season! Never be shy with your seasonings – potatoes love salt!

  • salt
  • 30g butter
  • 110ml milk

  1. This recipe was perfect! My boyfriend practically licked his plate clean. Thanks so much for sharing.

  2. In a later episode, the preparation for mashed potatoes was apparently changed. The potatoes were cooked with their skins in the oven, Tina had problems peeling the potatoes afterwards. Does anyone have the recipe for this?
