Enter air fryer taquitos, a sexier spin on the classic deep fried version. All of the crispy, cheesy vibes, and none of the grease. Preparing this dish with the help of an air fryer takes it to another level of convenience and tastiness. You can also make these vegan or vegetarian if you wish, with the addition of beans and plant-based toppings.
We really love the simple, traditional and homey flavours of a classic chicken taquito, but don’t feel obliged to stick to any formula here. Feel free to play around with flavours, textures and spices, as this little dish could not be simpler to chuck together.
To assemble this wonderfully quick recipe, you’ll simply pop your fillings into a bowl, mix them together and fill the taquitos. A spritz of oil, and a few minutes in the air fryer until crispy, and you’re ready to chow!

I don’t have an air fryer, can I still make these?
Absolutely! If you don’t have an air fryer, simply bake the rolled taquitos on a wire rack at 200C until the exterior is golden and crisp and the cheese has melted.
Can I make this vegan?
This recipe is easy to make vegan. Simply use beans as stated in the recipe and add your favourite plant-based cheese and other toppings in lieu of the sour cream and dairy-based cheeses.

Description
Quick, crispy and cheesy, these air fryer taquitos are the ideal quick supper. They’re also perfect for snacking on right out of the air fryer!
Ingredients
- 150g cooked shredded chicken or 150g black or red kidney beans
- 140g cream cheese
- 80g mozzarella
- 40g kale (a small handful), sliced finely
- 1–2 garlic cloves
- 1 green chilli (add to heat preference)
- 3–4 medium-sized corn and flour tortillas
- oil, salt and pepper
To serve
- salsa of choice
- pickled red onion
- sour cream
- guacamole
Instructions
- Mix the taquito ingredients together in a bowl, excluding the tortillas. Fill the tortillas down the middle, then roll them into a sausage shape, securing the filling inside.
- Brush the taquitos with oil and air fry on 200 degrees C for 4-6 Minutes or until the cheese has melted and the exterior is golden and crispy.
- Serve with your favourite toppings such as guacamole,a sour cream drizzle, salsa and pickled red onion. Feel free to get creative
