A classic tequila margarita is a drink that almost everyone appreciates. It requires only three simple core ingredients and can be jazzed up and riffed on to your heart’s content. However, it’s also just as good in its pure and simple form. It’s up to you!

Tequila, orange liqueur or Cointreau, and lime juice are really all that you need to create this simple and delicious cocktail. However, you’ll notice that I have included the additions of simple syrup, chilli and a zingy Tajin rim for some extra pizzaz. If you can’t find Tajín Seasoning, never fear! Chilli salt will add some extra spice and fire to this drink.

This tequila margarita recipe is truly the essence of simplicity and deliciousness. You will need only 5 minutes, a cocktail shaker and 6 ingredients. As easy as that! Enjoy over ice on a warm afternoon, or serve alongside your favourite Mexican dish!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Tajín?

Tajín is a delicious Mexican seasoning that combines the distinctive Mexican flavours of citrus and chilli into one delicious mixture. Use Tajín anywhere you would normally use salt for an extra hit of flavour and spice!

“Tajín” is the generic name for Tajín Clásico, the most popular condiment made by Empresas Tajín in Jalisco, Mexico. It is composed primarily of ground dried chilli peppers, more specifically chiles de árbol, guajillo and pasilla chillies, dehydrated lime, and sea salt.
